Director- Jane Campbell
Director - Ian Campbell
Ian is the tireless captain of the team. His extensive knowledge of the dairying industry and human nutrition amazes all those who seek his expertise. Ian is a fourth generation dairy farmer and has enjoyed an education that many farmers before him had not. He studied Rural Science at the University of New England, NSW, and Nutritional Medicine at Bath, in England.
As well as overseeing Barambah Organics and the farm “Spring Creek”, Ian performs consultancy work for the United Kingdom based company Keenan, who he has worked with since 1995. He had two years with the company in the UK and in South America and through his years of experience has been able to apply his knowledge learnt to “Spring Creek” and has made the farm an efficient and sustainable place for generations to come. Well Done Ian!
The cows
The cows are the most important members of the team. Twice a day they are happily producing the goods. With Ian’s carefully considered rations that he supplies them with and the extra feed that they find on the carefully managed and farmed 700 acres at "Glenarbon" and 1,000 acres of “Spring Creek”, these cows are extremely healthy.
The cows are first milked when they are 2 and a half years old. Some are artificially inseminated and some are naturally bred. We milk the cows for an average of 300 days and then they are given a 2 months break.
At all times the cows welfare and nutrition are of the highest priority because stress and poor nutrition are not conducive with producing good quality milk.
