Organic Certification
Barambah organics has had an enormously successful five years and to keep up with demand for our top quality dairy products, we have relocated to a large certified organic, irrigated dairy property at Inglewood, QLD.
The property has a 2km river frontage with a water harvesting licence from the river as well as a larger irrigation bore. The property is irrigated by center pivots. There are a number of other certified organic operations in the close proximity such as Inglewood Poultry, Whetstone Organics and OBE Beef, as well as certified organic wines and olives.
Our cows have access to year round organic green grass on the banks of the Dumaresq River.
What is Organic Certification?
This is a guarantee that there is NO chemical residue in the product and that NO genetic modification has occurred. Farmers use holistic farming practices and the original farm, Spring Creek, in the South Burnett, Queensland, has been farming that way for many years.
Ian Campbell, the Director of Barambah Orgaincs, returned to his family's farm in 1998 and decided to convert the farm officially to organic status. The certifying process, with Biological Farmers of Australia, BFA, has taken three years. The farm became officially organic A, in March 2000.
The organic certification process involves having the farm audited regularly, by the BFA, in order to verify that no chemical is being used in the farming system. Every input into the farm is organic, from organic grain and pastures, to natural remedies for the cow, in order to ensure that the milk is of the highest quality and taste.
